CHONDROCALCINOSIS



Calcification of hyaline(articular) cartilage or fibrocartilage (menisci) or ligaments.

Location
  • Knee : Menisci, patellofemoral cartilage
  • Wrist :Triangular fibrocartilage in distal radioulnar joint
  • Pelvis : Sacroiliac joint , Symphysis pubis
  • Spine :Annulus fibrosis of lumbar intervertebral disk
  • Shoulder :Glenoid , Acromioclavicular joint
  • Hip :Labrum
  • Elbow , Ankle
Causes:
  • Osteoarthritis
  • CPPD (calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease)
  • Hyperparathyroidism
  • Hemochromatosis
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Hypomagnesemia
  • Hypophosphatasia
  • Ochronosis
